Branchburg Woman’s Club

A fun way to help the community since 1960.

Welcome from the BWC

Greetings from the Branchburg Woman’s Club!

Founded in 1960, our club is a proud member of the New Jersey State Federation of Women's Clubs and the General Federation of Women's Clubs

The BWC is a non-profit organization of women who want to help the community and  participate in fun, creative, and educational activities.  As a New Jersey woman with many responsibilities, you may think that your life is too hectic to consider becoming a BWC member.  However, even if you only have some time now and then, you can be a valued club member plus build new friendships, broaden your horizons, and help others.

A look at our membership will show that even busy women find participating in club activities worthwhile. It’s an easy way to feel part of the community, meet new people with similar interests, and learn new things.

Club activities have evolved along with the interests of the club members.  The club has several extracurricular groups.  Some meet in the daytime and some meet in the evening. Activities currently range from crafts, gourmet food appreciation to film and book discussions.  New departments can be created as desired.  Fun day trips, evenings out, and special social events add to the club experience.

Meeting from September through May, typically on the third Thursday evening of the month, the club’s general membership meetings begin with a guest speaker or an activity.  Then there are refreshments, followed by a club meeting.

Consider coming to a meeting or two as our guest and bring a friend!  Membership inquiries are welcome from Central New Jersey women, especially residents of Branchburg and nearby towns.  Learn how you can become a valued member of our dynamic and diverse group of women volunteers by joining the Branchburg Woman’s Club.

Do you have an Advance Medical Proxy Directive and an Advance Medical Instructional Directive?  Do you know what they are and how they may help?

According to the Patients Rights Council, an advance directive is a document by which a person makes provision for health care decisions in the event that, in the future, a person becomes unable to make those decisions.

A representative from Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset, formerly Somerset Medical Center, will be the key speaker at the January 15 Branchburg Woman’s Club meeting. She will discuss these directives, along with personal approaches to assist people with making informed medical decisions for themselves and their loved ones. Sample forms will be available for the participants to take away with them. She will answer any general questions concerning advance medical directives, but will not be able to address specific or current personal issues.

Come to the club meeting and learn why having these directives should be important to you and your family members who are 18 years or older. The free program will start at 7:30 pm at Branchburg's Little Red Schoolhouse, 2120 South Branch Road.  It will be followed by refreshments and club business. Adult guests are welcome. Call 908-866-1060 for club information. Please try to carpool.

Many of us make resolutions about what we hope to accomplish in the New Year.  Perhaps finding more ways to help others in need is on your list?  With our busy lives, sometimes that's not easy, but there are simple things that you can do that will make a difference to people who are challenged with difficulties.

With this in mind, the Branchburg Woman's Club offers several opportunities to help others.

How about giving a pair of new socks to the Branchburg Woman's Club's "Step Away from Abuse" GFWC Sock Project?  The Branchburg Woman's Club is collecting new socks that will be given to New Jersey domestic violence shelters to help provide comfort and warmth to adults and children that have been victims of domestic violence.  All sizes of socks are welcome; the collection bin for the new socks (and yarn– see below) is located in Branchburg Township's main building, which is open from 8:30 am— 4:30 pm weekdays.
